Britain became the first country in the world to approve the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for use publicly. In UK, people will start getting vaccination from December 15 onward. Most vulnerable people will get it early next week.
The world’s largest Biotech Companies have been racing for a vaccine for months trying to be first to launch it. The approval of a vaccine is finally done for use almost a year since the novel coronavirus go out in Wuhan.
Pifzer-BioNTech Vaccine for COVID-19
Britain’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) granted emergency use (EUA) approval to the Pifzer-BioNTech Vaccine. It is 95% effective in preventing illness as claimed by Pifzer. The vaccine get approval in record time, just after 23 days from the publication of final stage clinical trial data by Pifzer.
“The government has today accepted the recommendation from the Independent Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to approve Pifzer-BioNTech’s CoVid-19 vaccine for use.” — The Government said on Wednesday, 2nd December 2020.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson watch it as a global win and make a ray of hope amid in this pandemic situation which killing nearly 1.5 million people around the world, hammered the world economy as well as disrupted the normal life. Johnson said — “It’s fantastic, The vaccine will begin to be made available across the UK from next week. It’s the protection of vaccines that will ultimately allow us to reclaim our lives and get the economy moving again.”
