Today, We all are living under a harsh situation due to COVID-19 Pandemic. As it is a viral infection caused through respiratory route of our body and a infected human body is a carrier of this virus, we should covered our respiratory opening (mouth & nose) besides “physical distancing” as well as “hand sanitizing” to prevent from infection. Facial mask is a good option for that. So, It become necessity to use face mask specially on the public place. That’s why Government of many countries make rule that wearing a face mask is mandatory when a person gets out from home.
Face mask as a fashion
The whole world is fighting against COVID-19 during last 8 months. In the March-April of this year, when the disease outbreak throughout the world & it turns into pandemic from epidemic, many countries including India have implemented Lockdown. In this period, common people had stuck into the house. All the workplaces were shut down except Essential Services like Health services, Administration etc.
But as the pandemic is existed for a lomg time, people are trying to come back in normal life with maintaining the preventive measures of COVID-19. That means people are restarting their job, attending many events like Wedding ceremony, Cultural programs, Religious activities etc by wearing mask and maintaining physical distance. Here, Facial mask use as a positive way when it make with a fashionable design and colour. In many wedding ceremonies, bride and groom are attending the program with mask which are matching with their dress. Many models have clicked their photos by wearing fashionable mask.

Facial mask is not a new item. Surgical mask in medical field, Cloth mask in polluted area are using widely since long time. But in this pandemic situation, all people having to wear masks continously which is irritating. If masks are stylish and attractive, it may be easy to become habitual. In this point of view, “face mask as a fashion” make a positive impact in our lifestyle.
Fashion destroys Necessity
But it is very unfortunate, when a positive idea is being misused. To maintain design or style, Mask maker are compromising with the quality of masks. Sometimes they use the matrial which are allergic. Here the problem is actually increased instead of preventing our health. There are so many types of mask present in market which are incompatible to prevent infections properly due to make fashionable shape.
India is a densely populated country where near about 1.38 billion citizen reside. Here many people are not properly aware that what is the importance of wearing mask in this pandemic situation or how they use it correctly or which type of mask should be used as per place. It is also true that a huge number of people are not paying attention to the fact and they are boldly neglect the health crisis, making fun with the preventive measures.

A large number of people put the mask on their chin, instead of covering the face to show off fashion. Lots of people hang on their mask into an ear to pretend it that they have mask.
Many poor people can’t buy mask. To get prevention from COVID-19, they try to cover their face by wrapping a Handkerchief or Orna or a piece of cloth as per their resources. But the affluent person, even many celebrities have done the same just showing off fashion. I think it’s not a picture of healthy ecosystem.
Consequence
When instance crosses the objective, the consequence become dangerous. Number of infection is increasing day by day due to such kind of neglegency.
Here the actual purpose of wearing mask is to get rid from infection, not showing off fashion, in this pandemic situation. Obviously one can show off fashion by wearing mask without compromising the main purpose.

It should be rectified the concept so that everyone may focus the main purpose of wearing mask. Government and the frontliner of society should be more careful about it and make more awareness for the necessity of wearing mask to save lives.
